Our Vision & Mission

Our vision is to equip students for transformational ministry and service to the urban church (Ephesians 4:12), that promotes the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:27-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 2818-20).

Our mission then is to train our students through the Word of God and intentional field experiences so that they can assist the urban church in its disciple-making and compassion ministries.  We put a special emphasis on the study of the Word of God, the Bible, with the belief that through such study the man and woman of God can be prepared and equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17).

Leadership:

With a keen sense that God had brought Rev. Bob Smith to Fort Wayne and an understanding that God’s ways are always perfect: on June 1, 2009, with the help, prayers and local pastors and lay people we were able to give birth to the Fort Wayne School of Urban Ministry (FWSUM).

Rev. Bob Smith, Director & Founder

As the Director and Founder of the Fort Wayne School of Urban Ministry, Rev. Bob Smith provides the visionary leadership for the ministry. After serving several years as an urban pastor in New York City and the Chicagoland areas, as well as, an urban missionary and several years in Christian higher education; Bod brings his vast experience to the City of Fort Wayne. He and his wife, Belinda, have three adult children and six grandchildren. For the past few decades Bob has demonstrated a heart for the city and a commitment  to serving the poor, the disenfranchised and the ethnically diverse people of our urban cities.
